Back from the Bund

Posted by Hello

D & me having Saturday brunch on Bund18

pardon the absence. was zipping around in the Bund and Suzhou. Shanghai never ceases to fascinate me, although i wasn't really there to soak up the social scene. if you wanna know wats sardine-packed streets and unruly, erratic traffic behaviour, you HAVE to go Shanghai.

Caught up with frens while i was there, checked up the chi-chi places along the Bund, wowed over by some well-restored old buildings turned into artistic creative establishments. found a nice brunch place!

there's so much to take in, in every aspect, the people, the culture, the work. every person i met or caught up with has a story to tell, an angle of the city to share. i made mental notes, but they got fuzzy by the end of the trip. hahah. i'm such a fish-brain. mabbe next time, i should just grab a camera, a notebook and a pen.

i love being exposed to new things, and new FOOD! hahah. there's this weird appetizer dish i love -- lotus root, with the holes stuffed with glutinous rice. then sliced very very thinly and served as a sweet-ish appetizer. it's really quite cool! not as terrible as you'd imagine, trust me. it's called Tang O (literally translated to be 'sugar lotus root').

other things i did in a flash:
- caught up with old friends
- met friends of old friends -- new friends!
- learnt of other friends who are working in the same city ( you can tell the human network of Singaporeans are quite strong hehe)
- bought the stuff i was tasked to buy
- became the proud owner of the entire set of my fav korean drama "Lovers in Paris"
- walked about the streets in an extremely quickened pace (most times i was pushed around by the human swarm)
- opened my phone account (yay china mobile!)
